Comments from Students:

Sehba Khan (junior) from Westchester Park, College Park, plays viola in the Chamber Orchestra. She started violin five year ago and switched to viola two years later. She says, "I think that playing in Eleanor Roosevelt high school orchestra is an enjoyable experience. It is like no other orchestra I've played in. We go on trips, and play for various events. We are like a family. "

Adapeju Adenji (junior) from College Park is the first cellist for the Symphony Orchestra. She performs cello at her local church and the ERHS cello ensemble. She says, "I enjoy playing in the ERHS Orchestra because there is always room for improvement and advancement throughout the orchestras. Also, the music is suitable for each level in the orchestra. If you have trouble learning or playing a piece, there is a tutoring system, where you work with a more advanced student who willingly helps you out."

Nicola Purser (junior) from Bowie plays the cello in Chamber Orchestra. She has been playing piano since she was six years old, and began the cello in 9th grade through the ERHS music program. She says, "Although I had played in my middle school band, playing in the Eleanor Roosevelt orchestra for the first time was totally different. Here, I am surrounded by people I can identify with, not only in music, but in other interests as well. I feel challenged by the high standards, and I am motivated and encouraged by the enthusiastic atmosphere. Some of my closest friends are in the music program, and it helps to tie us together."

Christopher Ellepola (senior) plays percussion in Symphonic Band and Orchestra. He is in the Science Technology program and a member of the National Honor Society .

Jonathan Flores (senior) , from Yanow, College Park, plays saxophone in the Wind Ensemble. He says "I love art, and band is fun." 1
